Limited edition Welsh whisky matured in on of our mead barrels.
This whisky is a special, limited edition product, produced in collaboration with the Wales Whisky Fest. We kept it at cask strength, at 58%, so the full flavour of the mead barrel comes through on the nose, with a well integrated aroma of honey, oak barrel, and Welsh whisky. At cask strength, this whisky packs a punch but the honey sweetness still comes through. If you prefer your whisky with a lower ABV, adding a splash of water mellows the alcohol and opens up the flavour nicely.
Wales Whisky Fest x Mountain Mead 2026 Bottling: Triple-Finished Welsh Single Malt
A historic first for Welsh whisky. Created in exclusive collaboration between Mountain Mead, and Wales Whisky Fest, this landmark release showcases a pioneering triple-finish maturation.
Beginning with a Penderyn first-fill bourbon cask single malt, the spirit was transferred into an ex-Madeira octave cask previously used to mature sweet Welsh mead for six months. The wood imparts extraordinary depth, sweetness, and complexity.
Tasting Notes
Nose & Palate: Decadent layers of creamy vanilla, raw Welsh honey, rich fruit cake, and warming festive spices.
Finish: Long, sweet, and complex with lingering orchard fruit, toasted oak, and spiced honey notes.
